I can’t believe i’m just hearing about this video. And I can’t believe I’m never on Grafton Street in Dublin at the right time.
Glen Hansard, Damien Rice, Declan O’Rourke and a few other artists were busking on Christmas Eve, raising money for a local charity that helps fight homelessness.
Lo and behold, who happens to stop by and join in? Bono. One of my favorite moments in this video is where Bono says “Once” in the middle of “One” and claps his hands for Glen Hansard.
Usually, I’m not into anything Vampire related – but i’ve loved this band since i first heard them last year. Read the rest of this entry »
Found out two new things today:
1) Apparently, Iguanas fall out of trees when it gets really cold in Florida.
It’s going to snow in nashville tomorrow. How much snow you ask? 1-2 inches. That means people have to rush to get milk and bread since they’ll obviously be STRANDED at home and have no way out for days. Case in point…the shelves that normally hold bread at Target
In other awkward news of the day…the inebriation of Mimi. Mariah Carey won an award last night. Her acceptance speech reflects some pre-award celebrating. Even more awkward…Mary Hart trying to make people laugh after Mariah leaves the stage.
My most awkward and embarrassing moments keep happening in or around the elevators at my office.
I’ve dedicated this year to learning (or being aware) of something new everyday. With that in mind, I was curious when I walked into work today and saw my co-workers,Vinnie and Bryan, talking to a man that was doing some kind of work with the elevators.
Somebody asked what he was doing and Elevator Man says “I’m checking the elevator for snakes. Do it all the time. Found a fake one just last week.” I was shocked that this was his job so I asked “you really come by just to check for snakes in the elevator?”
Two things give away that you’ve just said something idiotic:
1) A gut feeling after the words come out of your mouth
2) The roaring laughter of the aforementioned co-workers and Elevator Man who, like me, couldn’t believe I had just said this out loud.
New thing learned today: no one ever comes to your office to specifically check for snakes in the elevator. You know you’ve wondered! ; )

Take a sad song and make it better
On Sunday night there was a security breach that led to a lockdown at Newark airport. A man walked undetected through a secure area of a terminal. One man’s actions led to thousands of passengers being stranded for close to six hours.
I don’t know about you but if I had been in that airport that night I would have been so annoyed. Your plans are ruined and you have no other option but to wait it out with strangers. I mean come on, these are not happy little travelers on the floor of an aiport.

If you’re ever in that situation, I hope there’s someone around that’s willing to grab his guitar and make a positive impact in a difficult situation. A man like Josh Wilson. He led fellow travelers in a version of “Hey Jude” and it looks as though it lightened things up…if only for a few minutes.
I’ve loved reading the comments on this video.
From Alisha54: Just wanted to say that while I didn’t get to see you play, I was stuck somewhere among that Newark mess too. The story of your music spread through the airport and gave people some sort of positivity and hope… even those of us who didn’t see it first hand! Thanks for being courageous enough to stand up and belt it out
From Dangerosslee: thanks josh, you make me see that harmony can exist and people really aren’t that bad. in down times there can be an upside.
From Sceptile2390: this kind of video reminds me of the goodness in some people’s hearts
One man can’t make everything right when there’s chaos all around. But one man can remind us that when things feel like they’re out of control, there’s always a way to make the best of it. If even for a moment.
If you’d like to hear some of Josh’s own songs, I’d encourage you to take the time and listen. He’s a great guy and these songs come from the heart.
Finally saw the Robin Hood trailer for the first time today…Ridley Scott is amazing.
Add in the fact that one of my fav Brits (Matthew MacFadyen) was cast as the Sheriff of Nottingham and I’m ready to see this in May!
I had this epiphany when i was in the shower tonight (admit it…you have time to think in there so it’s probably where you have your epiphanies too).
In 2010, I’m going to seek out something new everyday. Whether it’s knowledge (useful or useless), new music, new books, new people I meet along the journey. I really want to make the effort to take the time to discover something new every day and encourage you to do the same.
This inspiration came about because as I stood in the shower tonight I learned something new. There’s a massage setting on my showerhead. I’ve lived in my apartment for 5 months and had never discovered this before. It makes a difference to have a massage option when you’re in there, especially if you’ve had a tough workout and your body is feeling the pain that comes from not working out as you should have for a few months.
Lesson learned today…pay attention to details and you could reap the benefits.
Also, my friend Ryan texted today and recommended a band called Stephen Kellog and the Sixers. Just checked them out on Itunes and it’s pretty good stuff.
If you’ve had a “something new” experience today, please share! I’d love to hear about it
peace!
